The Last Portrait

Yup, this was the last portrait I planned on doing on commission for a while. It's story explains why...a friend from the band I was in, 'Braino', asked if I could draw a picture of his girlfriend with her late grandmother. Not the first drawing like this, in fact most of the commission I've done have been of people or pets that passed away. Yet for some reason I struggled with this one more than any picture I've ever done. Maybe 'cause I knew Maria, maybe 'cause at the time I was dealing with an evil upper respiratory infection, maybe 'cause I was just tired of drawing. As the deadline approached I finally broke through, and after some last minute changes that my friend wanted I finished what I still feel is one of my best works....I hear she loved it.
