'Pat's Kids' graphite pencil 14x17 Christmas Day 2000 |
|
Well, I had gone months
without drawing a thing. Usually I try to stay sharp by at least doodling
something. Sure, I doodle 3-D shapes likes cubes and work on 1 point
perspective, but my doodling really isn't that much different than
what you might do to kill the boredom. I had stopped taking commissions.
Done. Finished. I wanted to please ME for a changed. Then a member
of a band I was playing for asked if I could draw something for him
as a Christmas present. I hadn't done that since Maria's Angel, so
I was a little apprehensive at first. But the the idea of a challenge
was just too good to pass up. I consider it a success not because of
how it looks, but because he was happy with it and I enjoyed drawing
for the first time in a long time. The bottom line is that I can't
stop doing something I love so much... |
